Bats sleep upside down because it makes taking off much easier for them. Unlike birds, their wings aren’t designed to lift them straight from the ground. By hanging from a perch, they can simply let go, drop into the air, and open their wings to soar away. This upside-down position gives them the perfect launch point, something they wouldn’t have if they tried to rest on the ground or stand upright.
