The women's Alpine skiing downhill event at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics will air on NBC and USA Network, and stream live on Peacock and NBC Olympics platforms on Sunday, Feb. 8.

Ilia Malinin and his coaches would prefer he skate just the short program in the team event to preserve his body for the men's individual event.

There are eight new events at the Milan Cortina games, and several Australians are right in the mix for a medal.

Norway enters the Milan Cortina Games as the reigning winner of the Winter Olympics medal table. Norway dominated the biathlon and cross-country skiing events four years ago in Beijing to create separation from Germany and the United States in the medal standings.

After years of fanfare and anticipation, the 2026 Winter Olympics did not get off to a rousing start. Roughly four minutes after the Games officially began on Wednesday, February 4, there was a partial power outage.

While the Opening Ceremony is the official start for the 2026 Winter Olympics, there are events happening before it even takes place.

From east to west, the six new venues are NYCFC’s Etihad Park, which is under construction, Columbus Crew’s Scotts Miracle-Gro Field, Geodis Park in Nashville, St Louis City’s Energizer Park, San Diego’s Snapdragon Stadium, and PayPal Park in San Jose.

The United States has dominated the snowboarding events at the Winter Olympics since the sport was introduced at the Games in 1998.
