SNL parodies heated rivalry with Harry Potter skit, but not everyone is seeing the funny side
Queer ice hockey romance series Heated Rivalry has finally reached parodied-by-SNL levels of infamy, inspiring a Harry Potter skit on the notorious late night sketch show. On Saturday’s (17 January) episode of Saturday Night Live,
HBO's upcoming "Harry Potter" series takes some "Heated Rivalry" energy by creating a romance between Harry and Ron and playing naked Quidditch.
Harry and Ron (played by Ben Marshall) are back, a voiceover proclaims, for a new TV adaptation "hastily rewritten after the success of a certain other HBO show." There's no enemies-to-lovers trope this time around as friends Harry and Ron turn Hermione (played by Chloe Fineman) into a third wheel.

“Stranger Things” star Finn Wolfhard and comedian Ben Marshall poked fun at both “Harry Potter” and “Heated Rivalry” during a racy pre-taped “Saturday Night Live” sketch this weekend. The bit, titled “Heated Wizardry,” spoofed HBO’s upcoming “Harry Potter” TV series before taking a sudden and heated turn.
Saturday Night Live (SNL) took a moment to acknowledge the popularity of the romantic-sports series Heated Rivalry and added a playful wizardry-themed twist in one of the skits during the January 17, 2026 episode. It starred Finn Wolfhard, the Stranger Things star who made his SNL hosting debut on Saturday.
