A knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ showrunner Ira Parker explains how the show differs from House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has finally aired on HBO and Sky after much anticipation. The show is set a century before the events of Game of Thrones and approximately 70 years after House of the Dragon, with newcomer Peter Claffey leading the large cast as the eponymous Ser Duncan ‘Dunk’ the Tall.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is placed timeline wise in-between House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones. In terms of his Targaryen ancestors Prince Aegon aka Egg is the great-great-great grandson of Queen Rhaenyra and Prince Daemon from House of the Dragon.

The author is on board with the adventures of Dunk and Egg as the next Game of Thrones spinoff.

The Baratheon House appears in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, where the Laughing Storm serves as an ancestral figure for the next generation we later see in Game of Thrones.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms might not feature any dragons (minus the puppet kind), but it still features plenty of references to George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire.
