Bo Nix suffers broken ankle as Broncos edge Bills, head to AFC title game: Live updates and reaction
Denver defeated Buffalo 33-30 in overtime in the AFC playoffs today, but the Broncos have lost quarterback Bo Nix to an ankle injury. Denver head coach Sean Payton said Nix will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a broken bone in his ankle on the second-to-last play of overtime.
That interview took place before coach Sean Payton announced postgame that Nix's season is over after breaking a bone in his foot. The second-year QB is set to undergo surgery on Tuesday.
The Broncos had a major win vs. the Bills but lost their quarterback for the remainder of the season, according to head coach Sean Payton.
While Denver was able to outlast Buffalo and send Josh Allen packing, the victory came at a tremendous cost as quarterback Bo Nix suffered a season-ending ankle injury during overtime. In the later game on Saturday,
Payton said it happened one play before Nix threw a deep pass to Marvin Mims that resulted in a pass interference penalty, setting up Denver's game-winning field goal. One play before that throw, Nix injured his ankle on a designed QB run to the left.
Denver will head to the AFC championship game without its second-year quarterback. But Sean Payton is coaching a complete team you should not overlook.
